Hello Gateway Christian Life Centre family,
The Message puts Isaiah 41:10 like this, “Don't panic. I'm with you. There's no need to fear for I'm your God. I'll give you strength. I'll help you. I'll hold you steady, keep a firm grip on you.”
The Church is the people of God. We don’t cease to exist because we can't gather in a physical location. God is with us. He is our strength. He is our protector. We do not need to fear. He is with us in this mess. At the same time, we need to be wise and mitigate the spread of Covid-19 and obey those in authority over us and that includes the health Authority and the BC government, which has asked all to practice social distancing.
The BC Health Authority guidelines require us to not gather for our Sunday service because we have more than 50 people in attendance. It will be for the foreseeable future. At this point, the office is open Monday to Thursday 9-12, but ALL ministry gatherings have stopped. We are exploring ways to connect you with digital resources, via MOPS, and our children’s ministry. We are working with Social Curve Media & Web Management to find the best way to handle our social media. We will post links to worship sessions from other churches, and occasional live videos of worship, Natalie and I will do short video updates for Sunday mornings.
HOWEVER, I am encouraging each of you to set apart time in your homes to pray. Now is the time to hold onto the Lord, not just for our own sake and safety, but to listen to the Holy Spirit to bring wisdom and direction. It’s still always about hearing what the Lord says, according to His Word, and doing what He say. More than ever we get to be the church, instead of going to a “church.” We are still called to be a people of peace, compassion, mercy and love. We are still called to be light in the darkness and people of generosity.
Though we are not at a place of mandatory isolation for all people, there are some from our church community and the community at large who have chosen to remain at home, and others who have been out of the country and will require 14 days so self-isolate. I encourage the body to check in on others, call, video call, text or email them and If you are well and able, see if you can pick up/drop off groceries or medication. At the same time, if anyone is at home because they are sick or they have been out of country and need to self isolate, please reach out. Message the church Facebook page, message Pastor Shaun, any of the board members or any other member of our church. We will pray with you and if needed find a way to help bring you needed things.
Any updates will occur on our Facebook page and be embedded on our website. So, if you know anyone who is part of our church but has not yet connected to our Facebook page, please recommend that they do so or connect them with any pertinent information. Remember God is with us. He is our shield and strength. He is our ever-present help in times of trouble. He is still on the throne and is not caught off guard by this worldwide calamity.
Love Pastor Shaun and Natalie
